In light of this illustration, I want to ask for your help in “creating awareness” for a Bible fundraiser for your persecuted brothers and sisters, for those who live in the 52 countries where God’s word is banned and who don’t have a Bible.
No, this illustration isn’t shared in order to put you on a “guilt trip.” Thankfully, we are justified by faith alone and on account of Christ alone, no matter how inconsistent we may be as Christians in what we truly believe and what we actually do. However, this illustration is shared in order to make you reflect on how easily and freely you can use your God-given influence for the good of other (and more) Christians, which is without any cost or effort on your part. Zero cost and zero effort!
Can you come up with any reason why you wouldn’t want to use your God-given influence for the good of other Christians?
Your influence…
If you could use your God-given influence in order to easily and freely distribute one Bible to one of your persecuted brothers or sisters, would you do so?
John wrote: “But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him? Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth” (1 John 3:17-18).
What if we exchanged “the world’s goods” for “social media influence”?
“But if anyone has social media influence and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him? Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.”
John wrote this to Christians, stressing that we can easily only love “in word or talk” and not “in deed and in truth.”
By the way, the word “brother” is in the singular.
Even if your influence only resulted in the distribution of one Bible, John makes a divine case for doing so.
In the previous verse, he wrote: “By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers” (1 John 3:16).
Obviously, using your social media influence for the good of other Christians is the bare minimum of “laying down our lives for our brothers and sisters,” right?
In all seriousness…
I have no doubt that you can use your influence and help distribute at least one Bible to one of your persecuted brothers or sisters.
Will you do so?
If not, why not?

As a publisher of classic Christian books, 50% of each purchase goes toward the distribution of God’s word.
In order to make it as appealing as possible, there are $4.00 classic Christian book deals that consist of numerous books by a particular author or are about a specific subject.
Since each Bible is $6.00, every three purchases will provide one Bible.
Or, one can buy all twenty book deals for only $6.00 (a $74.00 savings), whereby every two purchases will provide one Bible.
Needless to say, these classic Christian books will be a tremendous blessing to any Christian.
I’ve no doubt that you can recommend at least one of these book deals.
- The buyer will be blessed by the books
- The persecuted church will gain Bibles
A win-win!
Obviously, the recipients of these Bibles will be tremendously grateful, to say the least.
In summary…
While we often only think in large numbers, Jesus stressed the importance of one lost sheep: “What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open country, and go after the one that is lost, until he finds it?” (Luke 15:4).
To use some literary license…
What man of you, knowing that one of his persecuted brothers or sisters doesn’t have a Bible, won’t use his God-given influence in order to help distribute one Bible?
Will you use your influence for the good of at least one other Christian?
It doesn’t cost you anything.
Nothing at all!
Actually, Jesus promised you a lasting reward: “For truly, I say to you, whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because you belong to Christ will by no means lose his reward” (Mark 9:41).
Isn’t the same true when you share a Bible fundraiser on behalf of those who “belong to Christ”?
To be perfectly clear: I don’t doubt or question all the good you’ve done and are doing. Here’s an opportunity to do more good, which is without any cost or effort on your part.
