What do Phil Jackson, Michael Jordan, and Steve Kerr have to do with using untapped resources for churches and ministries?
Well…
With only twenty-eight seconds remaining, the Chicago Bulls called for a timeout in their 1997 Game 6 against the Utah Jazz. The score was tied. They regrouped and came up with an unexpected plan that would give them their fifth NBA title. Not Michael Jordan but Steve Kerr would make the winning shot.
What if your church or ministry were to call for a brief timeout, regrouping in order to explore one of the most unexpected and untapped resource available, enabling you to reach and help more people.
In other words: if you have an opportunity to reach more people with the gospel (Mark 16:15), or help more brothers and sisters who are persecuted for their faith (Heb. 13:3), or provide more relief for those who live in poverty (Gal. 2:10), should you do so?
Untapped Resources
Affiliate marketing is one of the greatest untapped resources for churches and ministries.
While this may require outside-the-box-thinking, it will give your church or ministry additional funds to reach and help more people.
Undoubtedly, the best illustration is the former AmazonSmile.
From 2013 – 2023, AmazonSmile generated over $400,000,000 for U.S. nonprofits.
The Cause of Christ offers a similar program, whereby you’ll receive 50% for each purchase.
This affiliate program is in relation to classic Christian books, available at Christ-Centered Books.
Without question, you’ll be able to find at least one $4.00 book deal that will encourage your audience in their faith and walk with Jesus.
Or, you can share an $100.00 gift card for only $12.00, which gives the buyer all the books at Christ-Centered Books.
In all seriousness…
How much will your church or ministry receive if 5%, 10%, or even 15% of your email list or social media followers were to buy one book deal or the gift card?
While you can certainly do the math, here’s an overview of the gift card:
100 purchases gives you $600
250 purchases gives you $1,500
500 purchases gives you $3,000
1,000 purchases gives you $6,000
2,500 purchases gives you $15,000
5,000 purchases gives you $30,000
10,000 purchases gives you $60,000
That’s 100% free money!
As Charity Navigator points out, affiliate programs will give nonprofits “additional, unrestricted revenue.”
The needs are just too great to not use affiliate marketing, which is one of the greatest untapped resources for churches and ministries.
Will you make use of them?
